Thank you!
Now the anarchist days are already a week old and before everything fizzles out, we would like to say thank you! Without the people who came from far away to offer information booths, lectures and workshops, without the many Küfa-crews, without whom it would have been only half as good and with hunger in the belly. Without the solidarity bar shifts and people who have set up a party for us, without all the external structures that have taken care of demo matters, child care, technology, the provision of rooms, etc., who have thought until late at night about how things could be done. and how to make things happen. And most of all without the overwhelming numbers of participants, this week could not have gone so well. Several months ago we came together as a motley crew, started to make plans and ask people if they would like to contribute to this idea in different ways. Towards the end it got stressful as usual and because of that we are taking some time to reflect on what has happened. If you have anything to say, criticism or ideas, feel free to write to us at anarchistischetage@riseup.net.
Demonstration report
The demonstration gathered at Liselotte Herrmann Park from 5:30 p.m., but even before that massive police presence was felt throughout the neighborhood. Several people were checked by the police near the place of the assembly and their bags were searched.
After the opening, the first speeches were about a critical look at the anarchist scene and its way of organization. The Antifa Ost Solibündnis then reported on their trial support at the Dresden Higher Regional Court, in which unprecedented repression against the radical left movement is currently being exercised against Lina and other defendants on charges of forming a criminal organization under §129. Around 7 p.m., the march started. Already after a few meters the procession was stopped, because the command apparently felt disturbed because of a few umbrellas and the combination of protective mask and headgear. After a short interruption, the procession continued onto Breite Straße. There were expressions of solidarity from several houses, which the police took as an opportunity to try to gain access to the objects. However, they did not succeed. A short time later, the demonstration was stopped again in Torgauer Straße. The reason given was that only the right side of the street should be used. After the participants complied with the demand and lined up accordingly, they continued onto Eisenbahnstraße, where it suddenly no longer mattered how wide or narrow the people were walking. On the way to the intermediate rally at the Rabet, as well as in the further course, international greetings, for example from Ankara and Latin America, were read out. Thematically, the Rabet was about a feminist perspective on radical leftist practice, the deportation on Hildegardstraße several years ago and the last occupations in Leipzig. After that, the demonstration ran without further disturbances by the cops from the Rabet, via the Dresdner as well as Klasingstraße to the final rally in the Elsapark, which was reached at 21:10. There, the entrance area was already fully illuminated by the police, which fits into the picture that it was apparently important to the cops with equestrian squadron, trellis run, constant filming and helicopter deployment to make clear what they expected from the demonstration. In the last two speeches, the topic of animal liberation was emphasized, the importance of our criticism of domination not only in relation to humans to see and on the other hand of the Besch forest occupation reported. Due to the lack of escalation and probably also in order to be able to justify the pulled together units, the police did not miss the opportunity to carry out several measures at the end, to pull people out of the crowd and to finally bring one person to the police station. If you are affected by repression, contact the Rote Hilfe or write to us.
Despite all this, we would like to thank all participants that we managed to carry a powerful and militant demonstration with 600 people on May 1 in Leipzig on the street, which at the same time expressed a successful conclusion of the anarchist days.
Off to the Park! – Anarchist Park Festival in East Leipzig
We want to get out of the anonymous neighbourhood, out of the grey walls and into the park! Come on April 30th from 12.00 to 6.00 p.m. to our small festival in the Rabet, in the east of Leipzig.
We want to make it possible to experience a colourful, solidary and diverse life in the middle of our neighbourhood. We want to offer space for what cannot be done within our own homes. A place for your ideas and ours.
We will provide drinks and food, music, seating and perhaps a lot more.
But it is also clear: all this lives from the initiative of many. Freedom lives from personal responsibility and action. Bring instruments, a paddling pool, games, spray cans or anything you can think of. Organise an information table for your grassroot initiatives, a workshop on something you are good at and want to pass on to other people. Cook or bake some (vegan) food and bring it to the (vegan) bring-along buffet. Treat other people as you would like to be treated. Don’t leave your rubbish lying around. Get involved!
If you are not actively spreading authoritarian content or are a supporter of authoritarian organising concepts, you are welcome to join us.
We hope that this year is just the beginning and that the idea of an anarchist park festival around May Day in Leipzig can become established.
The Anarchist Days are nearly here. The program is slowly filling up, the posters and flyers are (almost) ready…
On Friday (April 29th) and Saturday (April 30th) we want to have space for info stalls besides the organized events. So if you and your anarchist info-shop, emancipatory collective, anti-repression group or anyone else would like to have an info-stand, please contact us!
Call for Support!
Food also needs to be taken care of. But who takes care of it? Again the same people who always do the repro work anyway?
We want an event week that is not only consumed. At the same time, it would be nice if we could manage to have a joint dinner and/or a bar evening for a cosy exchange every evening of the week after the content event.
We still need support for this! If you and your friends, your reading group or your profeminist men’s group would like to cook a dinner one evening of the week (from Monday to Thursday), please contact us!
We would love to have you!
